The course is a continuation of Music 201 and concentrates on music since the end of the 19th. century.
There will be three assignments, three quizzes, five listening tests and a comprehensive final examination. The grading system is as follows:
Weight toward the final grade 3 assignments, 100 points each 20% 3 quizzes, 100 points each 15% 5 listening tests, 100 each 35% 1 final examination, 100 points 30%
In addition to the graded tests and assignments, the course work also include two creative projects and a number of reading assignments. These will not be graded; however, the quizzes and the final examination will rely on knowledge acquired through readings and creative projects.
No late assignments will be accepted..The grading scale is as follows:
Nobody will pass this course without completing ALL the required
work.
Attendance policy.
You are allowed one unexcused absence all semester. Each further unexcused
absence will lower your final course grade by 2%. Always be sure to sign in
with your TA at the beginning of class.
Attendance and participation class are crucial to success in this class.
Since there is no book or manual for this course, quizes, assignments and
the final will be based on information delivered during lectures; you are
responsible for taking detailed notes during these lectures.
Final examination: Friday, May 2, 2009, 7:00 - 10:00 pm.
The final will be comprehensive which means it will include all the topics and all the materials studied and discussed during the entire semester.
